He does regret that Stalinism exported Stalinism instead of revolution, but that is the ugly face of reality, and this historical alienation is what gave this remarkable book its (most apt) title in Spanish. Whether he changed his attitude later on is irrelevant as far as "La Morale de l’historie" is concerned. In this book Gorz is a true blue Stalinist, with irrefutable good reasons, I would say. So, perhaps Varela should also mention that in “La Morale de l’historie” Gorz drastically debunked Trotskys’ sorrowful attempts to claim a historical role he (or his current followers) never achieved, putting him at the same level as hippies and, why not, current Greens (shame that he became one of them creating Friends of the Earth in France and going antinuclear). Varela, you seem to be quite familiar with Gorz’s work, and certainly you know how to write. At least you should try and make your review fair.
